Born in 1982 in Carrara, Dr. Mattia Fontana is a Swiss Federal Orthodontist and a member of national and international scientific societies. After graduating with honors in Dentistry from the University of Parma, he earned his specialization in Orthodontics at the University of Insubria in Varese, where he later served as a clinical tutor. During his specialization, he attended an intensive wire-bending course at the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation in Arizona – globally renowned for multibracket fixed appliance therapy – and obtained certification to practice in Switzerland, where he continues to work in Canton Ticino.
Upon returning to Carrara, he started his clinical practice from scratch, devoting himself exclusively to orthodontics and the treatment of complex cases. His pursuit of excellence led him to achieve prestigious certifications: IBO (2019) and EBO (2018), placing him among a select group of certified European specialists. In 2019, he also won the IAED Challenge, awarded for the best aesthetic case among young professionals under 40. Dr. Fontana is an active member of leading scientific societies including IAED, AIdOR, SITEBI, AAO, EOS and WFO, and is a frequent lecturer at courses, master programs, and international congresses. In 2020, he founded a successful private course, All On Ex 4 – Extractive Treatment in Orthodontics, held twice a year in Florence and later expanded to Europe, representing the peak of his research into excellence in extraction cases. Today, his approach stands out for precision, planning and transparency in both timelines and results: every smile must be beautiful, stable, functional and naturally livable. A father of two with a third child on the way, Dr. Fontana combines his passion for aesthetics with the joy of working closely with children: “Orthodontics is the real possibility to transform how a person sees themselves and relates to others.”
